Just two weeks after the landfall
of Hurricane Gustav, an even stronger storm -- Hurricane Ike
-- has made U.S. landfall near Galveston Island, along the
Texas Gulf Coast. Lutheran Disaster Response
coordinators there have secured all assets and will begin
the process of assessment as quickly as possible.
Until more is known about the scope of damage from this
storm, the response is simply immeasurable. However,
there will be needs in the affected areas, and Lutheran
Disaster Response will seek to serve those communities in
